Player’s Call-up and Team Discipline
11.1 The player, when called up to do so, shall be obliged to take part in the activities of the national squad.
11.2 If the player is unable to perform such duties as may from time to time be assigned to him by the coach, he shall forthwith inform the coach of reasons therefor. The coach shall investigate such reasons and in consultation with any relevant party make an appropriate recommendation to SAFA.
11.3 The player shall timeously inform the coach of any personal problems which require attention. The coach shall at his earliest convenience deal with any such problems and shall when necessary consult with the appropriate persons in order to resolve such problems.
11.4 If the player is cautioned or sent-off in a game for unprofessional conduct, the player shall, if required by SAFA, appear before the disciplinary committee.
11.5 The player shall be personally responsible for the payment of any fines which may be imposed on him by a referee during a match.
11.6 If the player fails to report timeously, without good reason, at the time and place fixed by the coach or appropriate SAFA management as provided for in 3.1.10, he shall –
11.6.1 be penalised by a fine equivalent to one day’s allowance for a first failure to report on time;
11.6.2 be penalised by a fine equivalent to two day’s allowance for a second failure to report on time;
11.6.3 in the case of a third failure to report on time be required to appear before the disciplinary committee.
11.7 All disciplinary committee proceedings shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the SAFA constitution.
The player may appeal against a decision of the disciplinary committee in accordance with the SAFA constitution.
12.1 The player shall not personally or by means of anyone else place a bet or offer or attempt to bet money or anything of value on the outcome of any match participated in by the player under the auspices of SAFA or participate in any sports pool with regard to any such match.
In the event that he is found, by the disciplinary committee, to have performed any of the acts as set out in 12.1, SAFA shall be entitled to suspend the player indefinitely and to prescribe appropriate disciplinary action in terms of the SAFA constitution; subject to the player’s right to appeal against the findings of the disciplinary committee.
The player shall not display or show any mark or logo during any match, official function or public appearance in his capacity as a member of the national team, which is not that of the official national team sponsors.
14 THE MEDIA
14.1 SAFA has appointed a media liaison officer to organise and co-ordinate communications with the media with regard to the activities of the national team and national squad.
14.2 The player is entitled to give interviews to the media either as arranged by the media liaison officer or independently of him.
14.3 The player shall not make any remarks, comments or statements to the media, which are adverse to or in any way critical of SAFA, SAFA management, the coach or his fellow players.
