Coach’s absolute discretion on participation
5.1 The coach shall have an absolute discretion in selecting the national team and the national squad. The coach’s decision as to the composition of the national team and the national squad may not be challenged by any player.
5.2 The coach shall decide on the participation or otherwise, including the duration thereof, of the player in any and all national squad activities including camps, training, matches and functions, with due regard being had to the player’s club commitments wherever possible.
Clothing and Footwear
7.1 SAFA management and the coach shall have the sole discretion to determine what clothing shall be worn by the player during training, the playing of matches and while attending approved functions, subject to any agreements between the official national team sponsors and SAFA.
7.2 SAFA shall provide the player with clothing, footwear and accessories (if any) in terms of agreements entered into between SAFA and its sponsors.
7.3 During training while playing matches, the player may wear football boots of his choice.
7.4 The player shall at all times, when travelling as a member of the national team and when appearing in public as such, wear only the national team’s sponsor’s clothing, footwear (with the exception of the player’s boots as set out in 3.7.3 and accessories (if any).
7.5 All match or training equipment given to the player shall be returned to the person responsible for same immediately after each training session or match. The player shall not remove any equipment without the prior permission of the coach.
7.6 The player is responsible for all clothing, footwear and equipment, given to him and shall, at his cost, be personally responsible for the replacement of same consequent upon the loss or deliberate damage thereof by the player.
7.7 If the player has received such clothing, footwear and equipment and his selection to the national squad is terminated, he shall return same to the coach, provided that the coach may determine which clothing, footwear and equipment may be kept permanently by the player for his own use.
The wearing of shin guards shall be compulsory at all training sessions and matches.
Diet, Health and Incidental Matters
9.1 The player shall conform to and abide by all reasonable instructions and directives given by the coach, team doctor or dietician with regard to dietary and other related programmes.
9.2 The player shall not, while the players are at a camp, in training for a match or during the period allocated for preparations for a match, including the match day itself, without the prior permission of the coach (which permission shall not be unreasonably withheld) –
9.2.1 take or use any medicine whatsoever;
9.2.2 consume alcohol;
9.2.3 enter any restaurant, bar or place of entertainment.
9.3 The player shall timeously –
9.3.1 inform the coach or team doctor of any allergies to foodstuffs and/or medicines, whereupon the coach or team doctor shall make such other alternative eating arrangements as may be appropriate in the circumstances;
9.3.2 inform the coach or team doctor of any religious objections to any particular footstuffs.
If the player is a smoker he shall inform the coach thereof and shall abide by whatever instructions he is given in regard thereto.
Use of a prohibited substance
13.1 The player shall not engage in the use, possession or distribution of a prohibited substance.
In the event that he is found by the disciplinary committee to have performed any of the acts as set out in 13.1, SAFA shall be entitled to, subject to the player’s right to appeal against the findings of the disciplinary committee, disqualify the player from any participation in the national squad.
